Well we couldn't escape without another minor surprise. The hatch window came out this morning to replace the seal and there was some minor rust. One spot was a little worse at the bottom but its serviceable and will be treated before the window goes back in.

Eh, that's not really a big deal. Just like me at various times in the past, you got so excited when you saw that nice, intact hatch glass you didn't think about what lurked underneath.
#1 rule about Z restoration: they ALL have rust somewhere. It all depends on how long it takes you to find it.
Looked at your previous posts - this looks like a fun project. Best of luck!

When I first saw the car I suspected some, the corners of the seal were shrunken and dry, probably some leaking but nothing showed around it so I didn't think it could be too bad. There was a dime size spot above the windscreen glass seal but we ground it off and painted it. The car was in a shed for a long time and the only major rust was that dog leg, the other side was really surface rust and they altered it to be better in the future.
